MapStan and Cookies

When you register to MapStan.net, MapStan sends a "cookie" to your computer. A cookie is a piece of data that identifies you as a unique user. MapStan uses cookies to improve the quality of our service and to understand our user base more. MapStan does this by storing user preferences in cookies and by tracking user trends and patterns of how people search. MapStan will not disclose its cookies to third parties except as required by a valid legal process such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order.

You are responsible for controlling the access to the installation computer any any means do deem appropriate, as Mapstan only provides a control of the existence of the authentication cookie. The functionality of the MapStan.net service allow the configuration on a single computer for access by several users.
We draw you attention on the fact that such creation shall be done under your responsibility as the owner of the installation computer and that Mapstan shall not be responsible for communication of your personal data to unauthorized users of your installation computer, neither for unauthorized usage or alteration of this data.

What Information Do We Collect ?

www.mapstan.net Web site collects personally-identifiable information on certain areas of the site, especially when you register with MapStan.net's service. You are informed of the nature of the data collected and whether or not providing the data is compulsory and the purpose of such collection by informative notices displayed at the time the data is requested from you on the site. The personally-identifiable information collected may consist of a unique access ID and password, and contact information such as names and e-mail addresses. We may ask for further optional information from time to time to get a better picture of our visitors and their preferences. Such personally-identifiable information will only be used for the indicated purpose and will not be disclosed to third parties, rented or sold.
MapStan ToolBar does not collect any unique information about you (such as your name, email address, etc.) except when you specifically and knowingly provide such information. MapStan ToolBar can note and save information such as time of day, title and url with each query. MapStan also logs IP addresses, or the location of a computer on the Internet, to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer the Site and for security reasons.

The sites displayed in the MapStan plan are a compilation of the sites you have previously visited with the MapStan Toolbar activated. MapStan is not responsible for the use and contents of these third parties Web sites, which are developed by people over whom MapStan exercises no control, we encourage you to review and understand the privacy policies of these Web sites before providing any information to them. When you click on a URL from a plan, information about the click is sent to MapStan, and MapStan in turn sends you to the site you clicked on. MapStan uses this URL information to understand and improve the quality of MapStan.net's service. For instance, MapStan uses this information to determine how often users are satisfied with the result of a plan.

With Whom Does MapStan Share Information?

MapStan may share information about you with advertisers, business partners, sponsors, and other third parties. However, we only divulge aggregate information about our users and will not share personally identifiable information with any third party without your express consent. Please be aware, however, that we will release specific personal information about you if required to do so in order to comply with any valid legal process such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order.

Your consent and changes to the Privacy Policy

By using the MapStan.net Service and our web site, you consent to the collection and use of your information as we have outlined in this policy. Without prejudice to your statutory rights, MapStan may decide to change this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will notify you those changes so that you are always aware of the information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we disclose it.

Right of access and modification

The collection and processing of the data relating to you by MapStan is subject to the provisions of the French law "Informatique et libertés"n°78-17 of January 6, 1978 concerning protection of personal data (hereafter the French law "Informatique et libertés"). As per this law, MapStan is required to inform you about your rights and especially about the rights of access and modification of your personal data.
This site was declared to the French CNIL (under n° 757079).
MapStan will not disclose any personal information to a third party, your provision of personal information to MapStan being only necessary for the performance of the services requested from MapStan and will only be used for this purpose.
You are granted the statutory rights to access your personal information (articles 34 through 38 of the French law "Informatique et libertés") and a right of modification (article 36 of the French law "Informatique et libertés") to and for the personal data concerning you.
