MapStan.net uses
Favicons
to represent Web sites. Favicons allow notably to associate an icon to a Web site in Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Some sites offer Favicons, some not.
For every new Web site MapStan.net checks the Favicon presence.
A site having a Favicon may have no image on MapStan.net if :
the site hasn't yet been scanned by MapStan.net,
the site was down during MapStan.net scan,
the site had no Favicon when it was scanned by MapStan.net,
the site's Favicon format isn't valid (see the Note).

Note:MapStan.net converts one of the Favicon's icon to the GIF format.
The icon selection criteria are:
the size: 32x32 pixels, otherwise the biggest,
BE CAREFUL: no square icons and icons bigger than 64x64 pixels are rejected,
the colors: 256 colors, otherwise most colors,
BE CAREFUL: Icons with more than 256 colors are reduced to 256 colors, GIF format limit, and transparency is preserved.
